Before you Reach For your Phone

Social media is here to stay—the best we can do is develop our own consciousness around it. This guidebook walks you through that intentional focus on what to do next time you’re about to argue with strangers on the internet or compare yourself to someone else.

We reach for this thing and we just scroll, scroll, scroll— and my hunch is that endless scrolling and pacifying of our emotions can’t be the best game plan.

I do want to acknowledge that social media is designed to keep us there. It’s designed for us to crave more of it. I used to think that I was waiting for the powers that be to regulate it for me (and they should, there should be widespread change from the top down) but the likelihood of that happening feels so slim, if it turned to the side I couldn’t see it.

So I created a guidebook to walk you through conscious decisions you can make in your relationship with your phone. There are considerations for how you use it, and how you think about the moments before you begin to spiral into the digital abyss.

I think if we could all be a little more intentional, the [digital] world could be a better place.
