I’m calling it CHURCH-ish

Is it just me or does 2021 feel like 2020 with a bad wig?

Anyways, like most of us, I have had so much on my mind as we head into this “new year” and one of the things that has been consuming my mind is— How do we create more space for community away from social media?

Don't get me wrong, I think there are a lot of incredible things about social media, but after almost 12 months of being glued to my phone I need a break from the noise. I am desperate for some deeper and more honest conversation.

I think a lot of you all know that I grew up in the church— and like a lot of us who grew up in the church, I have since outgrown a lot of those beliefs. I find myself still wanting to be the best human I can be, but for me right now, that is not tied to any specific doctrine or text and I want to be able to explore the ideas about bing a better human with friends who maybe are tied to a different doctrine or a specific text or even something I’ve never heard of.

Being a better human doesn’t have to be tied to religion and I want to explore that more. I want to create a space outside of social media to connect and talk about deeper things and ask questions!

Am I alone in this?! Are y’all interested in this?

Well, I'm interested. So I am going to create the thing I want to be a part of— think of it as church, but not… it’s “church-ish” and you don’t have to believe anything to be a part of it. You only need to be interested in becoming more human and figuring out what that means together.

I am still not 100% sure exactly what it will be, where it will live, or really any details— but I know I want y'all to be a part of it with me.

Ok, so I've never done this before, but if you are interested in this idea and you are also looking for some deeper conversations then would you reply to this email and tell me what kinds of things you would like to discuss at “church-ish?”

….I think this could be a lot of fun— and boy do we need something fun, am I right?!
